Wild West Log
Party Log[edit]
This is a (vague at times) log of the parties' adventures thus far
Log[edit]
The party have been tasked with guarding a shipment of goods and wares being sent from Korm to be sold at the marketplace in Krakker's Crag by Bernholm Goonch, the owner of a general goods store that makes and trades in all sorts of goods.
Currently, the party is travelling along with the coachmaster, Prax the half-orc, who is driving the goods wagon whilst the rest of you form the wagonguard riding alongside the goods wagon.
On the hunt for one-eyed Jack, leader of the Black Ridge Gang.
Whilst out on the hunt for one-eyed Jack, the party came across a large boulder with a small wooden shed built onto one side of it, with a small chimney protruding from the roof gently billowing smoke out. Leeroy spotted signs of a fire on the other side of the boulder, and the party surprised a group of bandits who were in the middle of surprising them. They fucking mopped up, and Henk kicked the door of the wooden shed in on top of Sylvester, who helped them in said mopping.
After the fight, the party took the opportunity to long rest in the small shed they'd found Sylvester, given it contained some meagre furniture and a small wood-fired stove. The next morning, Salasar, Sylvester and Dan made the journey back to Krakker's Crag, whilst Henk and Leeroy headed off to scout the area further into the Black Ridge Gang's territory.
After some journeying across fairly rough terrain, two brothers noticed what appeared to be a thick plume of smoke on the horizon. Two brothers travelled towards the plume of smoke, and upon getting closer two brothers found a slowly burning pile of stacked sacks of grain behind an upended stagecoach to be the source of the thick smoke. They also found trapped under the overturned stagecoach a human witch hunter named Strigoi Burns who said he'd been ambushed by a witch named Salissa Chittersnitch, who two brothers then endeavoured to hunt down.
Two brothers and Strigoi travelled southwards until they found the ground started appearing decayed, which they followed until they found a pathway that led around a sheer rock-face. At the end of the path, there were multiple large piles of rotting refuse, which the party slowly approached - they saw the two corpses of the horses that were pulling the stagecoach, which turned out to be zombies. There were also some swarms of rats, and an exploding plague horse. The party fooked their shoyt up, and entered the small cave set into the rockface, descending down a flight of stairs carved into the ground.
Strigoi went a bit too badman and hoofed the door in the small room open, striding ahead into the dark corridor ahead - shortly afterwards backing up until an Ogre Zombie loomed out of the darkness, which the party smooshed whilst Strigoi completely tanked, however he's been left much worse off for it.
Bullettooth Sullivan and The Dusty Trail Scrappers is deaded - bounty done.
Henk and Leeroy took on a quest to investigate the missing town of Grunley-on-Rocks, a town that has reportedly "disappeared" as no-one has heard hide nor hare from them in quite a few weeks now. As one of the larger farming/mining towns in the area, this is highly suspicious. The pair left Krakker's Crag to head northeast on the road to Bedrock, with Grunley-on-Rocks being about 3 days travel along the road. After a day's travel, the party decided to hunt some game to buffer their ration supplies, spotting a herd of Big Boars. They took down two of the young'uns, and took enough perishable rations to last them two days. Later that day, the party came upon a ravine spanning as far as the eye can see, with a battered looking stone bridge crossing it ahead. Henk sent his horse across first, which panicked half way across causing some of the bridge to collapse into the ravine. The party JUST ABOUT managed to get across the bridge, although Leeroy sent Bessie and Buddy back to Krakker's Crag (with a roll of a 10…) and continued onwards with Spud the wolf by his side. The following day, the party met a strange old couple in a pair of wagons, with the wife Sally appearing to be dead until the husband Copernicus went to speak to her. They left there in quite a hurry, before eventually setting up camp again for the night. During that night's rest, Henk was alerted to a rustling sound in the bushes by their camp when Spud awoke and slunk off into the undergrowth. Henk woke Leeroy to the sounds of yelping, and Spud pulling the corpse of the other young'un Big Boar from behind a bush. Three adult Big Boars then charged in, but only managed to get one attack off before being completely wiped off the map.
Grunley-on-rocks was seemingly raided yet empty, with only some animal corpses but no sign of the inhabitants themselves. Upon getting over the gate to the town, the party saw a group of young girls dancing around a large blueish stone implanted in the ground singing what seemed to be a well known children's song. Henk noticed one of the girls was a bit off, and Leeroy agitated them by throwing a bottle at the rock, which commenced combat. Three of the girls turned out to be Green Hags, who as a coven had seemingly overtaken the town using their foul magics. The party smooshed then, taking some fairly heavy damage in the process. Upon killing the hags, the mystical undergrowth disappeared from between the floor tiles and the group spotted a large pile of corpses, seemingly the inhabitants of the town.
The large pile of corpses turned out to just be very heavily sleeping townspeople who the party started to wake up. Henk woke up one particular young man, Gim, who turned out to be the son of the town's mayor, Brun. After waking all the townspeople, it became apparent that not everyone had made it through the ordeal unscathed - the hag coven had been slowly killing people and using their remains to help fuel their nefarious magics. Brin thanked the pair for saving the town and said they'd always be welcome upon return to Grunley-on-Rocks.
After resting in the town, the party set off again in the direction of Bedrock, eager to see the famed Steamway at it's first port of call. After travelling for about a day onwards on the road to Bedrock, the party set up camp to rest for the night. First Leeroy, then Henk both heard what sounded like dogs barking and intermittent gunshot ringing out during the night, but didn't see anything suspicious. The following morning, after continuing their travels for a few hours, the party spotted the outline of a building on the horizon. Upon getting closer, they discovered the building was a relatively large, moderately fortified homestead set on one side of the road. Sneaking closer, the pair managed to scale the outer defensive wall and sneak past some strangely constructed kennels alongside the building, before ambushing a man who exited the building in front of them. The man became instantly aggressive, gunning straight for Leeroy before being taken by surprise by both Leeroy and Henk who was hiding behind a nearby wagon. He called for help before being taken down, and two similarly armoured men exited from the building wielding shields and hammers - who also called for their Boss before being taken down. We left the party outside the entrance to the building, with Leeroy having taken very heavy damage from the pursuing fight, and muffled barking and shouts coming from the entranceway.
Dusk Manor is theirs.
Strigoi turned up the next day, with a strange bounty hunter in tow - Thorok. He asked the party to assist him in capturing two hags disguised as suspicious pensioners, which they agreed to. The party journeyed onwards until Strigoi led them off the road to a mundane looking rockface, which he muttered at to reveal a hidden passageway, which the party travelled through for seemingly a couple of hours, and made a couple of days' worth of progress in that time. They found themselves exiting on the Krakker's Crag side of the decrepit bridge, near to Salasar's hidden wagon. Searching onwards, the party found a suspicious cave which housed a large pit full off moving algae like jelly on as floor, 50ft down from them. Upon pulling a lever, some rocks fell from the ceiling to form platforms the party could move across. Two hags were on the other side of the pit, and they were relatively quickly dispatched off by the party who went on to claim trophies from their prey.
They met up with Salasar on the way back, and when they reached the entrance to Strigoi's secret tunnel they found a monklike man being attacked by 4 large spiders and a robed figure. They smooshed 4 out of the 5, before a MASSIVE spider appeared (Arachnos). After the fight, and travelling back to Dusk Manor, the party was attacked by the remainder of the bandits who had possessed Dusk Manor initially. 2 Giant Scorpions being ridden by men, and Kel the Greaser on a motorised wagon. After the fight, Kel agreed to join the party.
Galanost and Thorok set off for a bounty taken from the newly installed bounty board at Dusk Manor, and made tracks towards Dunley, a small village on the way to Bedrock. They arrived at the village to find signs of a recent battle on the outskirts of the village, and pushed onwards to find some bandits in the centre of the village. Before the two could plan an attack, some strange insect-like humanoids revealed themselves from their camouflaged hiding spots and attacked the bandits. A battle ensued, with the party clearing out the bandits, and then the thri-keen as they began consuming the corpses of the bandits when there was a pause in the fighting.
After re-grouping at Dusk Manor, the gang set off for Krakker's Crag after receiving news of a sighting of their first bounty - One Eyed Jack, leader of the Black Ridge Gang. The party travelled a day west of Krakker's Crag to the location they described to them, to find two giant rocky outcrops forming a natural V in the landscape, with imposing, 30ft high, ancient stone walls with matching wooden gates blocking their view. They went inside and fucked up One-Eyed Jack on almost the first turn with him barely being able to react in time, but then his henchogres revealed themselves and the real fight began. After a slightly scary battle, the party emerged victorious!
